Looking for a Deckhand or 2nd Engineer position
I hope this message finds you well. My name is Lucas Dixon, and I am currently seeking a Deckhand or crew position onboard a sailing yacht. I am based in Antibes and fully prepared to relocate at my own expense immediately.
I bring with me valuable experience from the 2024 Mediterranean season, where I contributed to various daywork and temporary positions. These included yacht detailing, washdowns, teak maintenance, and preparing vessels for charter—work that helped refine my attention to detail and professionalism on deck.
Beyond this, my true passion lies in sailing. I have over a year of hands-on sailing experience, including more than 3,000 nautical miles, much of which has been along the Southern Atlantic and South African coastline. Of that, I have skippered approximately 1,500nm. I’ve participated in numerous offshore passages and regattas based out of Cape Town, actively racing under the Royal Cape Yacht Club banner. This helped my confidence under pressure tremendously.
I hold my RYA Coastal Skipper (Sail) ticket and recently completed my AEC 1. I am currently working towards my Yachtmaster Offshore (Sail) and AEC 2, aiming to deepen my technical and navigational skill set to continue advancing in the yachting industry.
Additionally, I have experience maintaining and repairing sailing vessels, both inshore and offshore, and my strong background in watersports and competitive sports—such as football, cycling, and fishing—has instilled a high level of endurance, teamwork, and resilience.
I am enthusiastic about the opportunity to bring my sailing proficiency, technical skill, and disciplined work ethic to a dynamic team. My CV is attached for your review, and I am happy to provide references or further information if needed.
Thank you for your time and consideration. I look forward to the chance to contribute aboard your vessel.
Warm regards,
Lucas Dixon
