Alvei is the real deal

5

I was on the Alvei for a short time while she was on the hard in Brisbane. Beautiful ship and the real deal. She is a 100% tall sailing ship. Unfortunetaly I had to leave early before sailing due to a family situation...I have regretted that decision a lot... like a whole lot. If the COVID situation wasn't what it was I would be back on her tomorrow. Now just to be up front, you had better have an adventurous soul because this is no luxury Disney cruise. You will be working, you will be learning, but you will have an experience that very very few in today's technology driven world would even have a clue about. If you want a real deal life experience do this... but only if your not a whiner, self entitled, and have a strong work ethic. There are other people depending on you, no free ride here. BUT you will have a life story that is enriching and very very unique. Fair winds and good sailing Alvei, I would be there if I could get there.

Best Experience if My Life

I spent six months with this boat several years ago, and I would do it again if plans permitted. She is under a new captain who has spared no expense bringing her back to her glory. Hope to see her in the Western Hemisphere soon.

She's SAILING!!!

We have long standing relations with this great tops'l schooner. While we were refitting our own vessel in Fiji, we encountered the SV Alvei in dire straits in the harbor of Suva. One year later we were thrilled to anchor off her bow in Russell Harbor, New Zealand. Great to see that there are old-school sailors around with a passion for square riggers!
