I'm an adventure lover. Every year for the past decade almost, I'd jump on my motorcycle and go travelling. On road, off road, through Europe, North Africa, and South America. Until I bought the boat that is.

Sailing for me just an extension of overland travelling, with a bit more comfort and a lot more freedom. Since owning the boat I've sailed the boat from Spain, to Greece, and back again, and am looking forward to some adventures further a field. I've heard the rum is good in Martinique.

  • Boat descriptionJade is an old Prout Snowgoose 35 from 1977 not fast nor flashy, but solid stable and safe. Hundreds of Prouts have circumnavigated the globe over the years, so she has good pedigree. She has recently taken me from Spain to Greece and back again (via the Balaerics, Sardinia, Sicily, Malta, and Corsica). Performance-wise the boat likes a good 12knts plus of wind to get her moving well. In 15knts on the beam she'll do around 7-8knts through the water. Tacking is roughly through 120 degrees, but going windward in anything but calm seas can be slow and uncomfortable. Sailing with the wind aft of the beam is a dream, especially under the spinnaker. The cockpit is functional, and with most control lines leading back to it for additional safety. There are modern electronics and navigation systems aboard including AIS and RADAR. The boat is supposedly has has 6 berths. In reality, any more than 3 people onboard for any length of time would get a bit crowded. Life onboard is good. The galley is a good size, as is the bathroom (only one mind), there's hot water (when the diesel heater is working), and a watermaker onboard. Berths for crew are either in the affectionately called 'coffin cabin' (due to its shape and lack of head height), or in the main saloon, so you need to be comfortable in small spaces.

Amazing Captain !

5

I spent 3 weeks on Jade with captain Carl and it was a wonderful experience. The boat is very comfortable and safe. We had a very pleasant time in Portugal, enjoying the coast, visiting isolated creeks, beaches and caves, discovering small towns, tasting local food and beers. Carl is a calm captain, he know his boat very well and is willing to let the crew handle it. Don't hesitate to contact him, but only if you fit in the "coffin" cabin ;-)
