New Zealand to Fiji on a 50ft Catamaran

I`m looking for experienced crew to join me when sailing from Whangarei/ New Zealand to Fiji starting early May 2026 .The envisaged routing will touch the Bay of Islands and pristine Minerva Reef before cruising in Fiji until the end of June.

The trip will thus be a combination of relaxed cruising (with a lot of snorkeling) and passage making in the southern Pacific.

We will be a crew of a maximum of 3 on a safe, well equipped and maintained boat with 4 spacious cabins with en suite bathrooms.

Crew must be confident of handling the boat solo during night watches and therefore have to be experienced sailors. Happy to take mile builders but not novice sailiors. I expect you to actively engage in the maintenance of the boat, cleaning and making the trip enjoyable for all of us.

All expenses incurred on the boat including food will be covered.

Timewise, presence on the boat is flexible to some degree. My plan is to leave Whangarei in early May and to fly out of Fiji by the end of June..

It features 4 spacious cabins each equipped with their own bathroom, a well equipped pantry and a lot of space for a maximum crew of 8. Safe sailing is provided by a very protected cockpit, broad passageways, a high and solid rail and a protected work area in the front. The sailing loft comprises i.a. a Parasailor and a powerful Code Zero. You will find more details and pictures of the boat on the website www.moonsailing.de.

Best experience we could have asked for

We can’t imagine having had a better choice of a skipper. Excellent sailing skills, and he likes to sail fast. Just the experience we needed. He provisioned the boat with best quality of food so we ate well every day. He likes company and though dry we enjoyed his humour . We clicked I think and we learned a lot from him. Educated and has a wealth of knowledge on pretty much everything. He has very High standards for himself and asks for the same in return. Seems fair.. we found him to have warm and witty personality. Happy to join him again in the future

Beautiful boat, horrible owner

Horst (they named him right) is a smart, self absorbed, squeaky tight German Lawyer that thinks your his personal slave. Enjoys ridiculing when your opinion differs from his. Two meals a day, eat only when he eats, drink when he drinks. Be prepared to hear about it if you make any little mistakes, with words like "I told you" and " if those straps blow over you're going in with them"
