Inclusive Adventures is a 501(c)(3) Non-Profit serving Mobility Impaired Wheelchair Users including Disabled, Veterans, and Elderly.
Possibilities+ is a 1991 76' Darling Aluminum Motoryacht with a level-deck floorplan, and 30"+ wide doorways making it ideal for modification for wheelchair accessibility. She has twin Cummings diesels with low hours, 2 diesel generators, Bow and Stern thrusters but needs a little refreshing.
We have a highly skilled Volunteer Captain who is also an engineer and electrician working to prep her to bring her from Chicago to Houston by Nov 30th. If you are skilled with tools, are willing to learn to help handle lines, and able to work as a team/take direction, we need your help! Please note your skills / experience?
Onboard expenses are paid for volunteers (Excluding alccohol and shore based entertainment such as bars/restaurants/museums) Open to International persons with Tourist VISA, a minimum of 1 month, preferably 3 months, maybe more. Earned bonus for volunteers of reasonable travel reimbursement after 3 months.
Future possible opportunity: If you have availability into January through this spring, we will be working on remodeling Possibilities+ while cruising in the Gulf of Mexico to Florida, enhancing her controls for someone with mobility impairments to Captain her, adding wheelchair lifts, dinghy, and other various tasks that include carpentry, painting, mechanical skills, even aluminum welding such as to add a Folding Solar hardtop 50% done. By March we hope to head towards Cuba and possibly the Dominican Republic along Florida's coast and the Keys. In spring we would start heading up the East Coast ICW. This will be pioneering adventure trips from Florida to Cuba to Dominican Republic and back for adventurous handicap wheelchair users.
About Inclusive Adventures - Adventures are about the journey, not the destination.
We provide Life Changing Experiences for Uniquely Abled, Wheelchair Users and Non-Wheelers, Young @ Heart, and @ Risk Youth! Created by the Disabled for the Disabled ... or as we prefer ... by the Uniquely Able for the Differently Able.
Adventure offers us a freedom only achieved through overcoming challenges, and our fears. This newfound freedom of thought offers perspective throughout life, literally and measurably changing our lives as we add new skills while developing independence.
The journey itself contributes to every individual's personal development. You acquire new qualities, you become spiritually rich as you learn about culture, traditions, and history of various people living in other places and times. You begin to understand the why. This leads to an inclusive perspective on the ultimate similarities in all people, their goals, desires, and in that realization, differences become trivial details.
You should have a lust for adventure and open-minded, easy-going personality, with a desire to help others and improve the world. I have been designing and implementing modifications to the vessel to make it 100% wheelchair friendly (75% complete). I am a quadriplegic man who uses an electric power wheelchair after forced landing plane crash 15 years ago due to engine failure after takeoff. I have been designing and creating solutions to empower mobility impaired individuals through greater independence for the last 15 years including working with Veterans Administration and other orgs throughout the country.
