Experienced Sailor & Former Captain
I am a lifelong sailor currently looking to return to the sea after reclaiming some free time. While I am happy to join as Competent Crew, I bring the peace of mind that comes with decades of experience, including instructional roles and Mediterranean skippering. I’m easy-going, dependable, and looking to connect with like-minded sailors for new adventures.
Sailing Background & Experience
I have a broad range of experience across various waters, from the tidal challenges of the English Channel to the sun-soaked coasts of Greece.
Instruction (1986 – Present): For nearly 40 years, I have volunteered as a sailing instructor in Friesland (NL). Teaching others has kept my foundational skills sharp and my patience levels high.
Offshore Delivery/Mileage (1988 – 1990): Completed several North Sea and Baltic transitions as a dedicated crew member.
Commercial Yacht Charter (1990): Spent a full summer season as Captain on a Jeanneau Sun Fizz 42 in Greece, navigating the Peloponnesos with Dutch tourists.
Yacht Ownership (1997 – 2002): Co-owned a Dehler 34. We logged extensive miles cruising the coasts of England, France, the Channel Islands, and Belgium.

Technical Skill: Comfortable with sail trim, navigation, and heavy weather handling.
Reliability: I understand the dynamics of living in a small space and the importance of a solid watch system.
Versatility: Whether it’s a relaxed coastal cruise or a more demanding passage, I am happy to contribute to all aspects of boat life, from the helm to the galley.
