Experienced sailor looking for a crew position in the Caribbean/US/Central America
Hi - I'm an experienced sailor/deckhand looking to do some sailing around the Caribbean/Bahamas/Cuba/South America. I'm interested in finding a position as a deckhand, Amateur Crew, Competent Crew or anything else that you may have to offer. I'm looking forward to meeting some new people!
Personally having worked in senior positions in the corporate world for many years and having left that a few years ago I am looking to apply my management, team and sailing skills and knowledge in the maritime industry.
In particular I am looking to work as a deckhand, steward or whatever is required on a private or commercial yacht sailing in the Caribbean.
Having completed many hours of ocean and inland waters sailing both cruising and racing I believe I am ideally suited to assist on commercial or private yachts in whatever capacity is required.
Personally I am at a stage in my life where I am looking to give back to the community and to be of assistance to people who need it. In recent times I have sailed a medical yacht around the Vanuatu islands providing free medical assistance to villages. I have spent time working in an orphanage in India helping the staff provide homes and education to 80 orphaned children. I have provided free project management assistance to my large church in Australia.
Over the last 2 years I've sailed for 3 weeks around Cuba, 3 weeks then 2 weeks and then 10 days in Gulf of Mexico, 2 weeks from Panama to The Bahamas, completed a delivery from DR to Florida and most recently 2 weeks in and around St Martin .
In addition, I am;
• a PADI Advanced Open Water certified diver,
• first aid trained (although needs a refresher course)
• competent in the operation of Navmaster navigation system
• an experienced traveller
• Queen’s Scout
• A handyman with timber, metal, fibreglass
• a team player
• and am willing to take on any task asked of me.
I am currently in Dominican Republic so can easily come to where you need me.
