Hello fellow sailors!
I'm Max, 26 years old from Belgium. I've been working for a couple of years now, saving to go see the world!
Already spent a year in Australia in 2017, now planning to go West from here. I'm looking for a boat that leaves preferably from somewhere in Europe, looking to gain more sailing experience and ideally land somewhere in south america :)
I have sailed on week-long cruises in the Med, Britanny and the North Sea. Solo night watches, rigging sails, harbour maneuvers, knots, asymmetrical spinnaker, what I haven't done yet I can learn pretty fast.
I also kitesurf a lot, and have been on the water on windsurfs, lazers or so since I was a kid.
I am a sea and nature lover, and I also want to travel more slowly. Enjoy the trip more than the destination, and everything around it!
Whatever the mission I am assigned on the boat, rest assured that I will fulfill it, as I am a fast learner and really motivated. The main things I can bring to your boat are my energy, happy mood, some good jokes and some other bad ones depending on the day ;) and my big desire to help and be useful ! I am open-minded, non-judgemental, with a great desire to meet people from all around the world. I enjoy cooking though I'm no chef and I have been a bartender so I can pour a few cocktails. I've had a lot of small jobs on farms, hostels, bars, restaurants and I can use my hands with a few tools so I can be of help if there's something to fix on the boat.
As for my hobbies: I play the guitar, ukulele and a bit of piano, I enjoy reading, travelling, nice moments with friends, having interesting conversations about any and everything. Kitesurfing, really big into ultimate frisbee at the moment, I also enjoy windsurfing, surfing (though not really good at it ;) ), hiking, free diving, skiing, snowboarding, spikeball, pretty much any sport actually. Don't know if it's useful but I really suck at basketball, just so you know :D
What else? I have been a hospital clown for sick children, am a first aid responder at the Red Cross of Belgium, I have my drivers license, I'm fluent in French and English and have basic knowledge of Dutch and learning Spanish. But willing to learn any language as it is my dream to speak a lot of them !
