Vancouver Island - Deckhand assistance during May & June!
Hi there! My name is Juliet and 2 years ago i discovered the exciting sea of sailing. I first learnt how to sail on a 48 ft ‘CAL’ monohull. Since then, I have been crew on this boat for a delivery between Airlie Beach to Cairns, and then returned it again to Bowen. During this relocation we shared duties between 4 people, cooking, cleaning, night shifts on the helm, and general maintenance.
I’ve had experience on a 42 ft ‘Fast’ monohull called ‘Awesome’, which just won 1st overall in it’s division during Airlie Beach Race Week. My reference is Scurvy Dog if know him! Race week included a week of training and then a week of racing and then a week of recovering..
A few weeks back I relocated a small 25 ft Top Hat from Mackay down to Yeppoon, taking us 8 days. Again, we shared all of the duties on this Journey.
Most recently i joined a friend on his 33 ft Lidgari to explore the reefs between Cairns and Port Douglas. Loved this size monohull because it was a realistic goal for me when i do decide to buy my own vessel.
I’ve been living life on the road and will be back to Van life as of May once the snow clears. Sailing is a new found love of mine so i’m wanting to learn the ins and outs from an experienced captain before buying my own in a few years. In the meantime, crewing is a great way to learn while also seeing some beautiful locations.
Ill be on Vancouver island in May and June and I’m really keen to get back on boats as i haven’t sailed since i left Australia. I’d love to sail around some of the smaller islands and even up to Haida Gwaii if the opportunity arises. Please get in touch!
