Just moved to Australia and looking for some recreational sailing/make new friends!

Hi! I just wrapped up an awesome extended trip crewing on various boats (a mix of recreation and deliveries). I sailed to the Bahamas, through the ABC Islands, within Jamaica, and from Florida to NYC. I normally sail on monohulls including our family boats, but also loved the cat experience! I have just immigrated to Australia for work (Melbourne) and I am looking to meet some people in the boating community. I'd love to get out for some rec sailing, sub in for a race, or just mess around in the bay. Happy to help with all things in port or out, and just generally make some friends and be out on the water. I'm keen to keep learning and have a good time.

I have several sailing skills to bring with me, but I have a lot to learn, so happy to help with anything! I've used marine electronics (chart plotters, AIS, radar, wind instruments, autopilot), sail raising/lowering, trimming, helming, and standing watch. I like to help out with pre-sail duties including engine/rigging checks, and route and weather planning. I enjoy participating in boat maintenance, cleaning and helping with repairs. I am comfortable using tenders and dinghys, emergency equipment, and have training in first aid. I enjoy cooking meals and am comfortable around the galley. There's nothing like a good sun-downer (partial to gin and tonics). When not sailing or working, I love exploring new places, swimming, fishing, and tasting good food and drink. I am happy to help in any other ways as needed and love learning more as I go.

If you are interested in planning a trip, having a day sail, or just need an extra hand, let me know. Cheers!

The Best of the Best

Sara spent several weeks crewing on my catamaran as we sailed between each of the ABC islands in 2023. I highly recommend her to anyone desiring a bright, energetic, capable and careful crew-member. Sarah is fearless when it comes to learning new skills and when tackling complicated or challenging maneuvers, at sea, at the dock or on passage. On or off of the boat, she brings a positivity and sense of humor that will brighten anyones day. I am grateful to say, that she has become a friend as well as an amazing crew member. Any boat will be blessed to have her. Skipper Paul - Fortunata.
