Looking for a Voluntary work, Novice Crew or Dive Instructor position
Kia ora,
My name is Sophia, and I’m looking to crew on a boat, ideally heading to New Caledonia, though I’m flexible to other opportunities as well.
About nine months ago, I bought a little Davidson 28 and have been fixing it up since. I’ve been slowly learning to sail and maintain her while living onboard, which has been a great hands-on way to build experience.
My sailing experience is still fairly new, but I do most of my sailing solo, so I’m getting better at juggling everything that comes with running a boat. I’m also now highly experienced in fixing manual toilets!
I hold my Skipper’s licence for vessels up to 12m, and I have over 10 years of experience as a scuba diving and freediving instructor. For the past nine months, I’ve also been working as Dockmaster at Opua Marina, so I’ve been closely involved in the marine industry and around boats daily.
I’m based in Opua and available from mid-May. I’d love the chance to help on a boat, gain more experience, and be part of a good crew.
Ngā mihi,
Sophia
