I've got my sea legs and I want to go sailing.
Hello! I'm an experienced commercial fisherman looking to get more experience under sail. I've worked on 6 different fishing boats, ranging from 32 to 75 ft (10-23 meters), and I've gone over a month without setting foot on land. I've got my sealegs and I know my knots, but my actual sailing experience is limited to coastal day trips and a few races. I can keep my wits about me in heavy seas and howling winds, through the dead of night, even if I've hardly slept in days. I have received a Fishing Vessel Safety Drill Conductor certification from AMSEA, so I am familiar with most safety equipment used on small to medium-sized vessels, and procedures for emergencies such as fire, flooding and man-overboard. I've worked construction, so I'm pretty handy. I've also done minor repairs on wood, fiberglass and aluminum vessels. I'm no master mechanic, but I can turn a wrench. I'm no master chef, but I can make food that won't kill you. I'm an experienced international backpacker, so I'm comfortable getting accustomed to new environments. I have extensive training and experience in primitive wilderness survival, so I can live without luxury. I hold US and German passports, so I can travel visa-free to many countries. It has been a dream of mine for years to do some blue-water sailing, so if you are interested in having me join your crew, don't hesitate to contact me. I am currently located in Boston, but willing to travel.
